When Princess Anne wed Captain Mark Phillips in 1973, there was no Cinderella moment for her. In fact, Her Majesty The Queen advised her daughter against wearing a tiara, which is a traditional accessory for a royal bride.
Instead, Princess Anne wore a high-collared Tudor-style wedding gown that was designed by Maureen Baker, a relatively unknown designer at the time. The coat-like dress featured embroidery done by the Royal School of Needlework, and Baker designed it to suit the princess's no-frills personality.
The dress actually ended up having some issues on the day of the wedding. Princess Anne noted that the dress was restricting and heavy, and she found it difficult to move in it. Plus, the high collar made it difficult for her to turn her head and see her friends and family.
